Blood Diamond: A powerful story of Empathy
Who cares about how a beautiful piece of diamond is put in a decorated room for sale? What does it take for that stone to have reached to shining your purse? While rich people in Europe are wearing diamond necklaces to impress or to show off, the people in Africa are loosing blood in order to supply them. Humanity has often ignored the toil and sacrifices the labor puts into something. As someone climbs upwards in the hierarchy of needs, he often forgets those who are still struggling for the very first level of needs merely for survival.
The story-line is consistent, the acting is masterful, so are the directing and the editing. What I appreciate most about the film is the depth of the characters, most of them didn't fall for the typical Hollywood stereotypes. If they had done anything else it would have just been another formulaic Ron Howard type film.

The story of survival, sacrifice, greed, journalism, vandalism and of empathy. A very well comprehension of everything. After watching the movie, a question pops up, should we really give that value to diamond? Isn't our value to it causing the bloodshed in Africa?

The transformation of Slolomaon Vandy is from being a poor fisherman in Africa
to loosing himself to the cruel diamond miners his son to vandalists and his family separated
to meeting with the Dany Archer for getting the diamond in right place in Europe
and to his family reunion and wealth. His determination to keep moving forward is outstandingly
presented.
